Hot Air

This weekend we went to the Queechee Hot Air Balloon Festival in Vermont.  We have never seen such a thing and really enjoyed ourselves. We stopped at Subway to get sandwiches on our way there and sat on the grass to eat while we watched the colorful balloons get filled up. The propane burners were pretty loud and scared Eli but Carter and Kate were just running around in excitement.  We ran into a few of our friends from the ward there too and had fun visiting with them.

We wanted to stay until it got dark to see the balloon glow" so we had a few hours to kill. There were lots of craft booths and food vendors so we walked around to look at those. There was a kid area with a bounce house but it cost extra, of course, so we steered away from that and just enjoyed seeing the balloons take off.  We did buy some delicious, home made, pink cotton candy though and all became sticky messes.

 Then to top the night off, about 7 balloons lined up and put on a "balloon glow" show for us after the sun went down.

It was such a fun night. The highlight was walking back to our car in the dark on this little path through the fields and forest and seeing all the blinking fireflies. It really had this surreal feeling like being on the bayou ride at Disneyland or something.  The kids (and parents) were exhausted from staying out so late but it definitely was worth it. Everyone come to visit us next year so you can come too!
